Obama branded cellphone
A Kenyan cellphone company has released a Barack Obama-branded cellphone. The red and blue cellphone is covered with fun phrases like “Yes We Can” all over it. The company, Mi Phone, is calling it the Mi-Obama. It’ll cost around $30 there. You may or may not know, Obama’s father was born in Kenya.

Needless to say they are a hot seller. The product in it’s first week of availability has already sold over 1000 units in Nairobi alone. The Director of Mi-Fone says, “The coming of the new President of the USA is an auspicious moment for all Kenyans and the people of Africa. It is our pleasure to be able to launch the Mi-Obama phone as a memento that will always stay within the user’s hearts and minds”.

Can we sell Obama branded cellphones to the locals and make a ton of dough? Yes we can!

KDDI 007 mobile phone
Hardcore fans of James Bond have another piece of gear to add to their growing collection. Sure, you have the laptop, you also have the James Bond villain watches, but you don’t have this phone.

KDDI will release the limiited edition W63S cell phone with a special 007 Quantum of Solace design from AU. The handset is priced at €110 with a contract and features an internal 2.7 inch organic EL WQVGA display with an external 1.1 inch organic EL display, 100MB internal memory, 1Seg support, EZ FeliCa, and has a 3MP shooter.

Now for the all too familiar bad news. This special edition phone is only available in Japan. How many times have we heard that?

- Bitstream announces open public beta for BOLT mobile browser

BOLT mobile
One of the biggest problems on many handsets when it comes time to surf the Internet on the go is the browser offered on the phone. Many mobile web browsers force users to view websites in a way that makes navigation difficult and runs the surfing experience we are used to.

Bitstream announced today that it is offering a free public beta for its BOLT web browser that promises to allow users of high-end and low-end cell phones alike to surf the web with a desktop like experience. BOLT allows users to view full desktop style web pages and to zoom in on sections they want to view closer.

The browser promises to be 25% faster in normal use than other browsers and as much as 50% faster in many circumstances and to reduce battery usage. The magnification technology sounds a lot like what the iPhone uses to allow easier web page viewing.

- Alcatel + Lego = Lego phone

- Alcatel + Lego = Lego phone

Handphone
Alcatel and Lego teaming up to make a Lego handset? Earlier this year Lego and Digital Blue announced combined efforts that would yield a variety of Lego-electronics aimed at kids. The announcement included details on a digital camera, a walkie talkie and an MP3 player. The functional toys would fall into an affordable $20 - $60 price range.

Now Alcatel is apparently jumping into the mix and the trio is planning to get cell phones in the hands of children using Legos. This piece of Lego-electronics is rumored to be released by this summer along with the rest. Not sure yet if you’ll be able to connect a few of these Lego handsets together or not.

It would be great if you could use the pieces to create your own unique phone

- Handphone is slightly ridiculous

- Handphone is slightly ridiculous

Remember when you were a kid and you played with fake phones? Or maybe you played with an imaginary phone, holding two fingers to the side of your head. I have news for you, you didn’t look as ridiculous as this guy.

The Handphone concept makes you look like a borg taking a business call. It sits on your hand, with a few wires and fingers leads, and turns your fingers into a portable cellphone device. You navigate and control the phone using natural gestures and voice commands. For Borg technology, the LCD on this thing is pretty lacking. No wonder Picard kicked their butts.

“I am Locutus of Borg. Resistance is futile. Hold on a second while I take this call.
